Open For Business
This club has officially changed hands.
Regular meetings, that have previously been held in an unofficial capacity, are due to recommence soon.
The new President of the Christchurch Anime Tribe is Michael Willis (a.k.a. Monogreen).
There may be a few changes to the website and it may be a while before everything is running smoothly so thanks for your patience during the change-over.
For more information on this will probably be available on our club forums.
The Anime Tribe has a Facebook group for previous members to keep in touch with one another and new members to find out more information.
This is a closed group and all requests to join are moderated :)
If you have any questions about the club:
On a personal note, I (Kath / Erebus) am about to move with my husband and kids, up to Awahuri near Feilding (just out of Palmy). It's been awesome meeting so many cool people over the years in Chch, and I look forward to being able to keep up with many of you by email, LiveJournal and FaceBook :)

No Meeting
To give new people a chance to get involved in viewings, I make a point of getting our viewing schedule up online at least a week before a meeting happens.
We've had a couple of hiccups getting the website updated in time to give people notice about our new viewing schedule, so there will be no meeting on May 17th, and if all runs to plan, meetings will resume the week after.
I hope this isn't of any major inconvenience to any one, and thanks again to those people who have recently offered to share their anime with us, especially Monogreen, Denni and Piezo.
If you wish to discuss any anime that we have viewed or any that you want to see at future meetings, please visit our forums.
Thanks again!

New Trial Venue
Some of the guys have offered their flat for viewings strating the weekend after Armageddon.
The viewing schedule is now up on the Club Info page.
As yet this is a trial venue and we'll see how things play out.
A great big thanks to Monogreen and flatmates for the offer of their lounge.
6:50pm, 24th March; 2009.
Anime Tribe BBQ
The Anime Tribe folks had another BBQ, on March 1st and thankfully the weather obliged.
Thanks very much to everyone who brought along food, drinks and gaming paraphernalia. Much fun was had, though midnight soccer was not played due to finishing earlier in the evening.

Anime Tribe 7th Birthday Party!
The Anime Tribe Birthday Party Was held on the 8th of November. It was a little later this time around due to complications of the hosts having a child, but there were still about 15 people there and we had great fun playing video games and cooking some food.
Thanks very much to everyone who brought along food to share! It's a pity we didn't have time for the regular soccer game, but there's always future events :)
Apologies for it being so long to update!

New Forum Test
Hi there all. It looks like we won't be running many regular meetings for a while so I have had a go at setting up a free forum for us in the interim. Please feel free to hang out and post about what you are watching and reading at the moment. This may just be a temporary home for us so I'm not personalising it much just yet as we may get a nicer forum running if people are interested in using it. So, please pop on and let us know what you think about the idea. Thanks!
9:50pm, 23rd August; 2008.
Meeting Cancelled
We'd like to apologise for the late notice but this evening two of the people who are hosting the meeting came down with a nasty virus, so in the interests of public safety we are belaying our regular viewing for a week.
We hope this doesn't cause too much inconvenience! Thanks in advance for your understanding.

32nd Christchurch International Film Festival
This year's festival has a couple of Japanese pieces that anime fans will love!
Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone (2007)
In Japanese with English subtitles, PG (low level violence), 98 minutes.
This looks to be a definitive retelling of the Neon Genesis story and is the first of 4 parts. Those who are unfamiliar with the story of Neon Genesis; Evangelion should get as much out of it as the long time fans. Fans can expect to see some changes in the story and new scenes added in. The narrative promises to be slicker than the late 90s classic as well!
Evangelion is set in Tokyo-3, a ravaged city that is under attack by creatures called Angels, who seem hellbent on the destruction of human life. It tells the story of reluctant hero, Shinji Ikari, who after 8 years estranged from his father, is summoned by him to be a pilot for a gigantic bio-technological mecha called Eva Unit 01. At the age of 14, can he be expected to save the human race, Or will it all come down to the frail-looking mysterious girl Rei Ayanami?
Session Times:
- 13 Aug | 1:45pm | Rialto Three
- 13 Aug | 8:45pm | Rialto Three
- 14 Aug | 8:45pm | Rialto Three
Vexille (2007)
In Japanese with English subtitles, rated M (medium level violence), 109 minutes.
This CG animation is made by the same team as did the 2004 version of Appleseed. It borrows aome concepts from the science fiction masters, such as Isaac Asimov (I, Robot) and Frank Herbert (Dune) and tells a thoughtful and action filled story about humanity and robotics.
It is set in a Japan, in 2077, that has been isolated from the world by an energy shield for over a decade. American special Forces agent, Vexille is sent, with her team SWORD, into Tokyo to investigate claims that Japan is developing advanced robotics in contravention of U.N. law.
Session Times:
- 1 Aug | 6:00pm | Rialto Three
- 2 Aug | 8:15pm | Rialto One
- 4 Aug | 4:00pm | Rialto One
- 4 Aug | 8:00pm | Rialto Three
See you at the movies!
3:22pm, 21st April; 2008.
Christchurch Armageddon 2008
We've decided to postpone our scheduled meeting so that people can attend the Armgeddon Expo.
Anime/manga events at the expo this year include:
- English voice actor Spike Spencer (Shinji from Neon Genesis Evangelion)
- English voice talent and director Liam O'Brien (Gaara on Naruto)
- Kamehameha competition

Our regular meeting will be back on the 4th of May. Thanks for your patience.
3:38pm, 2nd April; 2008.
Meetings Resume
Thanks for hanging in there! Normal meetings will be resuming for a trial period at our regular venue, on April the 20th.
For the time being we won't be bothering with official memberships as I am not in a position to be able to make any specific commitments of time and so forth. I'll keep you posted for any changes. If you have any questions feel free to email me or phone Erebus, Denni or Zorr on 3321138.
See you there!

Upcoming Changes
If you have been keeping up with the news you will know that I am expecting a baby around mid October (and quite possibly even earlier if he's as enormous as his father was) so things are a little bit up in the air at the moment. I'm sorry that I have not been reachable by email or online IM for a long time now. I hope it hasn't caused too many upsets.
You can still keep up to date with all planned meetings on our Club Info Page. I'm taking the day off on September 2nd, because I'd like my birthday to be quiet.
I can make no firm plans for the continued running of the Anime Tribe after my baby is born.
As a result, in the event that we decide to continue running the club in any sort of official capacity, membership cards will be later than normal this year and I will not be expecting payment for membership if we are not printing cards. I think our P.O. Box subscription is set to lapse in November which would be the only other expense that the club funds would need to cover any way.
I do intend to hold a the annual Tribe Birthday BBQ, though how close the party is to the actual Tribe Birthday (30 October) will depend on how well things go with the baby. The Birthday BBQ is planned for sometime between the end of October and mid November. Once a date is finalised, it will be posted on the Club Info page.
In the event that regular meetings of the Anime Tribe become impossible I still intend to have a party sometime close to Christmas (depending on my family obligations this year). This will also be up on the Club Info page.
I'm reluctant to say that this club is going to stop running. It's certainly not my intent at this time, but looking at it logically I can't say that my priorities on the matter won't change.
If you have suggestions for changes to the running of the club (perhaps a new venue?), feel free to ring me (Kath/Erebus) on (03) 3321138.
5:16pm, 10th May; 2007.
Slow Updates
Again, the updates are slow. I'm very sorry about this. Thanks very much to the people who got in touch with me by phone because I haven't been on the net since the last update. It's good to see more people coming along to meetings again and some new faces too.
Yesterday someone poked an ultrasound on my tummy and it turns out the parasite growing there is, in fact, human shaped (putting paid to all those rumours that I was having a litter of kittens..). If you are feeling curious, you can have a look at the picture they sent me. Forgive the blurring in the title bar; it's there to stop identity theft.
Since the News and Index page aren't getting updated very often, I've had some comments from folks wanting to know what we are watching. If you ever want to know what is coming up, this information is available on the Club Info page, so feel free to have a look.

Updated News or "Where the heck is Erebus?"
Apologies to all who are regular visitors of the C.A.T. website. You may have noticed that the site hasn't been updated for nearly 2 months.
There is a good reason. Your faithful President has been bed-ridden for the last 6 weeks with chronic morning sickness (yes, that means I'm pregnant) and hasn't touched the computer in over a month (...and the first thing I do when I feel okay enough to sit in front of a computer for 20 minutes is update the site?!? - you should feel privileged).
A side effect of not using the computer has been that I have been off the radar for many of you and out of email contact. I personally apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. I hope I haven't scared off any hopeful members-to-be by not replying to their emails.
Most of you have probably also noticed that our discussion forums at http://jkaizer.net/chchanimetribe/ recently disappeared. I have been informed that this is because the machine they were running on is now no-longer on the internet. w00t is looking into this for me and we may, or may not, get another forum in the near future. We'll update you as more information becomes available.
In case any of you are worried about the future of the club, we are still holding regular meetings and have no intention of stopping.
Currently the easiest way find out about membership or general questions is to check this website!
Failing that contact me by phone on (03) 3321138. If I am unavailable you can speak to Denni or Captain about anything club related (follow the advice of your cabin crew... they know what to do).
If you wish to contact the club in general, feel free to use our LiveJournal Community.

Tribe Xmas Party 2006
The Christchurch Anime Tribe recently had their annual Christmas party from 3pm on Christmas Day. We watched TV and had cake.
At around 8pm we set up the BBQ and had some sausages and steak just before the rain got too obtrusive.
We spent a considerable amount of time on Wii sport.
The winner of the "Who's Eye" competition was drawn at about 11:30pm and was Monogreen. He won a Last Exile poster.
The result of the Midnight Soccer was a 4-1 win to the Home team due to the annulment of the first scored point due to uneven teams.
We cut it short at 12:30 to watch Viking: The Ultimate Obstacle Course so we could scope out the real life ninjas.
Thanks to Piezo who brought cake, Ghost for the matches, and special thanks to everyone who brought Wii-motes! |

Our 5th Birthday Party! |
 |
On October the 30th it was the Christchurch Anime Tribe's fifth birthday!
Back in 2002 some wondered if our club would last long and it's still going on strong with thanks to a group of core members and a lot of time and anime invested. Thanks once again. You know who you are.
To celebrate we had a BBQ and birthday party at the Gunns Crescent flat on Saturday the 28th of October with our traditional "Midnight Soccer".
Festivities started at 3pm and ran till about 5am.
We were lucky to be joined by one of our far-flung members from Wellington; JP. It was great to finally put a face to the name.
The BBQ kicked off just before 6pm. We had a lot of nice fire and didn't burn too much of the lawn. Thanks to everyone who brought along drinks, chips, meats, felafel, bread, sauces and cake! Big thanks go to Phorcys for the home made pizza which was super yummy!!
Thanks ever so much to wlfie and MonoGreen for bringing along the game consoles and gear (XBox360, PS2, Dead Or Alive 4, Guitar Heroes etc.), Bloodrose for bringing Sing-Star and of course Denni and Zorr for helping set things up. I also set up the Gamecube and DDR mat which was going in the kitchen.
|
The Midnight Soccer had a relatively low casualty rate considering the amount of aggressive play and the number of fouls. The Home Team suffered a demoralising defeat to the away side with a final score of 5-2. Good game folks.
After a bunch of us took a late night walk we reconvened to watch Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (thanks Bloodrose) before retiring.
From all accounts and awesome day!
See you all same time next year.

Anime Tribe Merchandise On-Line
on the 23 of July the Anime Tribe CafePress shop opened up at http://www.cafepress.com/animetribe
We recently got an order in from them and have a few Black Tshirts to sell on for $30 each. Tribe members get first option and all others will be on a first come first served basis.
We had limited success with our correspondence with Cafepress and a highly delayed order, so the Anime Tribe accepts no responsibility for orders made through Cafecpress.

Erebus and Zorr's Wedding
On Saturday, July 8th Captain Rushworth and Katherine Thompson were married.
That makes our first Anime Tribe wedding O_o
To celebrate, the happy couple had a "We just got married" party at their place on Saturday the 15th of July from 4pm.
Thanks to all those people who turned up to share the day and thanks to those who sent their well-wishes though they couldn't make it in person.
2:32am, 30th April; 2006.
On Saturday, April 29th the Tribe had an Elfen Lied marathon at the Gunns Crescent flat. We decided to make this a single day meeting rather than a regular meeting due to the graphic nature of the series. We started at about 12:15pm and ran till about 5pm with practically no breaks. Thanks very much to those people who brought food, especially Piezo and Bloodrose.

Tribe Boxing Day Picnic (and Party) 2005
The Christchurch Anime Tribe are going insane this year with 2 parter Christmas and Boxing Day Party, BBQ and Picnic.
The Gunns Crescent flat finally had the last guests leave at about 9:40pm on BOxing Day.
We had a sleep over and a couple of people went to Gamestation to check out the boxing day specials.
We had a picnic at Ernlea Reserve with the big Nyaaan banner up and a gazebo sunshade.
Then we returned to watch some Elfen Lied and the Appleseed movie.
Big thanks to everyone who brought food and especially to Ghost for doing all our dishes from the BBQ! Bonus points!
10:10am, 26th December; 2005.
Tribe Xmas Party 2005
The Christchurch Anime Tribe are all tuckered out at the moment taking a cool down between the Christmas Party and the Boxing Day festivities.
The Gunns Crescent flat received people from 3pm on Christmas Day and we had 20 people here eventually.
We watched Dragonball Z: Deadzone. We had Super Smash Brothers Melée, home DDR and Donkey Konga. Big thanks to Ray who brought Golden Eye and Smash Brothers64 and also to Fang for bringing a PS2 so we had Soul Calibur 3 and some other things.
Thanks to EVERYONE who brought food! We had a big selection of japanese breads from the Yamada Bakery and loads of chocolate and nibbles.
The weather stayed dry enough for our BBQ (between 8pm and 10pmish) after which we watched Tokyo Godfathers just to remind us all what we were here for (anime and Christmas - duh).
The traditional Midnight Soccer game was dampened a little by drizzle, but we had road flares for goal posts so that is all cool. The final score was 3-2 .. but nobody cares who was on either team so I am declaring w00t the winner - because last I checked he was in hospital getting his leg X-rayed after getting hit smacked into by Zorr. Ooops.
Much randomness did ensue untill about 4:30ish when we decided to sleep.

New Tribe BBS
I wish to joyfully announce that thanks to the efforts of w00t and Greg, we now have a new, fresh, clean BBS to make a mess of ^_^
Feel free to come and chat with the members of the Tribe. We have a new Members only section for our paid members. If you wish access to this area, please PM Erebus.
At present this forum is just being set up, so more Topics and sections will be added as the need arises.
I have added a couple of pages to our site layout. They are still under construction but have a look around and email me with suggestions if you have any good ideas.
HAVE FUN!

Richmond Club Plagiarism
A few days ago it came to my attention that Aaron Boal (previously a member of Christchurch Anime Tribe) had decided to start up an offshoot of our club in Richmond, Nelson called the R.A.T.
I had no problem with this idea, but it turns out that the way that he is choosing to run his club is in conflict with our best interests. He has used our name and the code of our website without permission. He has also done several things which lead me to believe that he is running his club in an unethical and possibly illegal manner.
I would like to make it clear that his club is in no way affiliated with ours and I have requested that he redesign his website so that people do not assume any connection between our two clubs. I have not heard back from him.
I'll keep you up to date with things as I find out more.
12:47am, 4th December; 2005.
Our BBS
Our BBS that was recently found at http://www.animetribe.virtualdreaming.co.nz/ is now nolonger up.
It has become too difficult for the admin who kindly donated that space to us to maintain the website for us any longer.
Ultimately it will probably be more convenient for us to run a forum that is local any way, as being remotely hosted in Auckland lead to some communication problems.
We have been given backups of the content of the posts from that forum should we find a way of getting a new forum up and running.
Hopefully I should be able to come up with a new solution to our forum needs.
If you have any ideas please email me. Thanks!

Anime Tribe 4th Birthday BBQ
On October the 30th we had the Christchurch Anime Tribe's fourth birthday!
To celebrate we had a BBQ and birthday party at the Gunns Crescent flat.
The weather was lenient and cleared for just long enough for us to get fire going and cook meats and felafel.
Thanks go to wlfie for bringing an Xbox and EVERYONE who brough food and drinks.. Napoleon slice, felafel, sausages, steak, coke, lemonade, bacon, yummy soup, pikelets with jam and hundreds-and-thousands *_*, pizza, chips, cheesecake, icecream... etc. etc.!! You guys are great and my waistline will be suffering for weeks!!
Sorry for the Sunday
-ness of festivities this year. It made an early night of festivities and so we had to declare Major Tom the winner of the midnight soccer because (although feline) he seemed to be the only one of us with any enthusiasm for smacking a ball around.
Remember that new subscriptions have started. I'm picking up the new year's cards on Monday.

Trip to Gamestation and TimeZone
On the 14th of August we went out for a romp around town. A somewhat random event, concluding in some Burger King and car pooling back to watch anime at the Gunns Crescent flat, but it was nice to get out and about with some friends.
We have had some new people coming along to meetings. It's great to have some fresh faces along... and even trying out the DDR and drums! OK so that wasn't compulsary >_<;;
Big thanks to the folks at Gamestation who got us some free MangaDVD hires for our input to their latest venture. That's right! You can now hire anime DVDs at The Gamestation, so if you want to know what a series or movie is like but you don't know if you want to buy it you can get together with some mates and have a video evening or something. Remember that your Tribe Card still gets you a 10% discount on anime DVD purchases.
Coming up after we finish our latest watching schedule we intend to have Wolf's Rain, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and more Studio Ghibli movies amongst other things. If you have any suggestions or material that you really want to share, slip us an email! Ja ne!

Site Downtime
Hi all. After much cursing, and swearing and invoking-the-names-of-all-things-not-quite-so-savoury, our website is up and running again.
Thanks, as always, go to Tim for being the man who allows us to use his server and who fixes things when they go spectacularly badly wrong.
For those who missed it, over the Christmas / New Year period our site was out of action due to some thoughtless people running a script that over-wrote all of our HTML files. It was an unhappy moment for all of us, because we suddenly had to figure out how to use "telephones".
A couple of happy offshoots were spawned however:
The Anime Tribe now has a blog for notices and a LiveJournal Community.
As always, where there is a will there is a way.
There should be some truth to the rumour that our website is to be revamped soon. As always the definition of soon will remain open to interpretation but I am hoping for more or less before Easter.
Please don't ask me when our forums will be back up... I'm not capable of doing that but I will let you know as soon as I know what is happening.
2:32pm, 6th December; 2004.
Christmas Holidays
Hi guys! It's holiday time for some of us and the rest of us will be following suit soon. As a result I've got more spare time to organise stuff, so we are starting off with showing the start of s-Cry-ed this coming weekend. This series should be finished off in time for Christmas.
We've got a couple more competitions to keep you going and rest assured there will be a party on Christmas day as we have had for the last couple of years.
This is no time to be slacking off... or maybe it is ^_^, but it's much cooler when you have people to slack off with, so if you are bored these holidays why not try and get together with some of your fellow anime fans? That's what our forums are for!
There should be more info going up on this site and expect more regular updates in the new year as I should have ADSL by then ^_^
1:46pm, 2th November; 2004.
Anime Tribe Birthday BBQ
October the 30th is the Christchurch Anime Tribe's birthday!
To celebrate we had a BBQ and birthday party at the Gunns Crescent flats.
There were video games and videos and midnight soccer. Expect many more to come!
9:26pm, 17th September; 2004.
Soultaker Marathon
On Saturday the 11th September the Tribe had a Soultaker Marathon at the Gunns Crescent flat.
Thanks go to X for supplying the anime, helping to run things and helping with cleanup.
Thanks again go to Ghost for bringing candy and refreshments ^_^
It's good to know that we are coming up to our 3rd birthday (30th October) and we are still seeing new faces at meetings!
5:26pm, 27th June; 2004.
Meeting Venue SOLD
The 4th of July; 2004 is our last meeting at Caverock Software on Madras Street.
The Anime Tribe wishes to extend our sincerest thanks to Andrew and his workmates for kindly having offered their time and place of business for our needs. You are the coolest. I would give you a kidney if you needed one (maybe not mine <_<;;).
If you are interested in hosting a meeting of the Christchurch Anime Tribe or if you can suggest a location that we can use for meetings in future, please email the Tribe. Such input would be greatly appreciated (though I may not have any kidneys left >_<;;).
Semi regular and informal meetings for Tribe members will still be held. The will be posted either on this news page, on our online forums, or both. If you need to be notified by phone or email of upcoming events please contact Erebus.
5:34pm, 4th April; 2004.

The Hair! Hair! Competition
The competition to put the names to some hair belonging to anime characters, is now closed.
The winner of the Nadesico DVD is Nyannichuan!
Congratulations!! Omedetou Gozaimasu!

Laser Strike!
In lieu of our regular meeting on the 18th of January, a group of us went to Laser Strike!
Most of us played 2 games and after a few refreshments we went to Time Zone and had a go at Dance Dance Revolution.
We had a blast (pardon the pun) and we'd love to thank Sels for organising it. Thanks also, to everyone who turned up for the afternoon.
I guess it's proof that we can still have fun when we aren't parked in front of a big screen watching anime, right?
8:45pm, 11th January; 2004.
No meeting on January 18th!

See you all back on the 25th of January!!
9:20pm, 27th December; 2003.
Tribe Startica BBQ!
This year we thought we would celebrate Christmas in Tenchi style with a Startica Festival! Basically that's really similar to Christmas except in summer and the trees aren't pine ^_^
The venue was Erebus & Co.'s place in Lower Cashmere.
It was easy to find because of the huge Nyaaan flag outside.
(Erebus's present to the Tribe.)
People started showing up around 3pm. Big thanks to those who brought food, candy and drinks!
The BBQ was burning food at about 6pm-7pm. Thanks to Wlfie and Cam for your help.
We found one of our trees in the back yard was dead so there was plenty of fire wood!
In the upstairs flat we screened Asian films for much of the time.
The viewing list was:
- Godzilla vs Mecha Godzilla
- Battle Royale
- Volcano High
- Dark Water
- The Returner
There was an intermission to play Midnight Soccer after Volcano High.
The next day we also showed Versus.
The results of the second annual Anime Tribe Midnight Soccer were:
Flat (and Emetic) vs Challengers... a win of 10-5 to the home team!!
Downstairs we had video games running much of the time.
Morbid was declared winner of the Wrestling tournament on the Gamecube.
Happy holiday season from the Anime Tribe!!
1:00am, 22nd November; 2003.
Great news for our members outside of Christchurch!
Gamesman is now offering a New Zealand wide 10% discount on all anime DVDs for Anime Tribe members.
Central Park Interactive; Manukau (Westfield Mall) will also honour a discount of 10% on anime DVDs.
We'd like to thank these businesses for their continued support and great anime range!
Both offers available with red Anime Tribe Card. |
|
2:34pm, 1st November; 2003.
On Friday 31st of October the Anime Tribe had a Halloween/Birthday/Flatwarming BBQ and Party!
We had about 20 people over throughout the afternoon and evening.
We cooked meat and falafel on the BBQ, read some manga, oggled some artwork, and played video games for much of the evening.
Thanks to all the people who brought food and lollies, (especially Ghost, Piezo, Emetic, Belxjander, Sels, w00t, Nik and everyone who gave me fizzydrink *_*).
Thanks to Fang and Donnagh for our video games and especially to RedBus for bringing his DDR pad, which at least 7 or 8 people had a go on, and entertained us all ^_^
Thanks to Ben and Emetic for their help with the fire.
Thanks to Morbid for help singing the entries in the filk competition! Great fun!
About 6 or 7 people turned up in costumes of various sorts.
Costume spot prizes were won by Tara (Ghost in the Shell "White Out" figure) and Siren (Saiyuki foldout poster with character profiles).
I'll let you all know when I get the photos developed.

As of the 31st of October the Christchurch Anime Tribe is in it's third year!
Happy birthday, US!! Otanjobi Omedetou!
It doesn't seem like so long ago that we were a handful of people dreaming in our lounge.
Very soon, we are hoping to put together a proper phone/address list so that club members can get in contact with one another. You don't have to share your details with anyone else if you don't want to, and the list will only be available to other members. However, we do need to have membership details updated for a whole bunch of people for this list to be accurate.
For this reason, cards for the new year will not be issued to people who haven't updated their membership forms. Sorry if this is an inconvenience.
12:10am, 20th October; 2003.
Start of our new subscription year is on the 30th of October, 2003.
Our new red cards have been designed and will be printed some time this week.
If you want to prepay for your next year's subscription this is the time to do it because your old cards will not be accepted for discounts after the 30th of October ^_^ |

One of the things we got was this Promo Surfing Pikachu card signed by Veronica Taylor who does the voice of Ash Ketchum. She was really nice and signed this card for all of you who couldn't come and meet her in person. Thanks Veronica!

Hi there and welcome to the informal celebration of the fixing of my computer!
Thanks go to Brendon Thompson for fixing it all up for me!
From here on in I have decided that, so the news page here has a little more relevance, I will stick time stamps on each entry.
So any way to bring you up to date, this page has not been updated for 21 days (O_o;;) because my computer was busted.. in a material way, in no way related to any viruses that may or may not have been floating around on the internet (which I couldn't catch because I couldn't get online ^_^).
Gomen nasai, Minna-san!
6:52pm, 21st August; 2003.
On the 2 Saturdays of the 2nd and 9th of August we had TRIGUN MARATHONS!
Starting at 12noon and running through till 6pm on each day, we took in all 26 episodes of the series (which is currently playing in the Adult Swim time slot on Cartoon network).
We'd like to thank all of you who brought along food and drinks to share.
We'll see you at the next catch up screening!
| By the checkouts at Countdown Northlands we found this ad! I think that qualifies Countdown as Christchurch's first 24hr animEdistributor. I found the same DVD on sale at the Sydenham Woolworths Minimart. It's a beautiful film and well deserved its Oscar and both places have it on DVD and VHS. Check it out! |

On Saturday, the 26th of April, we had a
BOOGIEPOP PHANTOM MARATHON
at Erebus, Sakura and Donnagh's house in lower Cashmere.
The viewing started at 12:10pm and ran until about 5:30pm
We watched all 12 episodes and stopped for food at around 3pm.
(We had potato chips, cheese muffins, sausage rolls and caramel slice - thanks go to Piezo, Coruna, Ghost and Erebus for food!)
Video games then ensued... as is typical for such occasions ^_^
While we were at Armageddon in 2002 we got the Voice Actor of Amazing Nurse Nanako; Mariah Martin to sign a collector card for all of you who missed meeting with her.
She seems to be a lovely person and we wish her well for the rest of her career.
Click here to take a look at the preliminary design of the first membership cards.... it's pretty close to the finished product.
The membership roster for the AnimETribe reset on 30th of October.
The 30th of October, 2002 was the Christchurch Animé Tribe's 1st BIRTHDAY!
Last year we reached a total of 55 members for the year from 30th October 2001 to 29th October 2002.
The guys at Cave Rock Software have shifted premises. As a result our meeting venue has shifted. If you want details on how to get there keep an eye on the "Members Only" section on the discussion forums, or visit the Cave Rock Software webpage.
They have a great set-up including a projector, Dolby Digital surround-sound and VHS/DVD facility.
